Artist designed handmade and one-of-a-kind pendant made of brass bronze and copper metals combined on a 3D design hangs from a golden snake chain measures 24"l. + 3 1/2" ornate filigree open work clasp (so 27 1/2" total all around); pendant is circular 2" wide, c.1960s (could be from earlier years even), unmarked. Very good vintage condition (normal wear no flaws), all authentic, genuine, functional, ready to wear, no issues (I examine all jewelry with a jeweler loupe prior to listing, and will reveal any flaws I see it).
talkingfashion: This piece reminds so much of Vintage American Modernist Winifred Mason Chenet who was an American born Modernist Designer and one of the leading pioneers of her time. Her signed pieces can cost thousands of dollars (very similar necklace to this one here can be found online avg. price $1,200). Winifred is the most well-known and collected African American Female Modernist Designer. She was also responsible for mentoring and training Art Smith, the most well known African American Male Designer of the Modernist Movement. It is obvious from this necklace, where Art Smith got his inspiration. Her work has become very sought after in recent years as she is finally gaining the notoriety and credit she deserves. For more information there is a great article on Winifred by Marbeth Schon available on her site "Modern Silver" easily accessible by web search.
