Yves Henri Donat Mathieu Saint Laurent, or also famously known as YSL, was born in Algeria in 1936 and would soon realize his insatiable need to design at an early age. He began his fashion career at the House of Dior. The world-loved designer then began his own lines and challenged the status quo over and over again. He embraced the idea of individualism and self-expression some of his most famous collections include his Piet Mondrian shifts- which gave art a new canvas to be stretched upon- the modern woman’s wardrobe. He went on to create collections that would embody Africa, Safari, Picasso, and Le Smoking.
