The Runway Experience: Turning Students into Trailblazers
The Runway Experience: Turning Students into Trailblazers
At Columbus Fashion Academy, the "Runway Experience" is the heartbeat of our mission. It is the moment where theory becomes practice, and where a young designer’s internal vision is finally shared with the world. On Sunday, May 17, 2026, our fashion community will gather at the iconic CCAD Canzani Center to witness this transformation firsthand.
More Than Just a Walk
While the flashing lights and music make for an incredible show, the true magic happens long before the first model steps out. The Runway Experience is a lesson in agency. Our students don’t just "wear clothes"; they present their own stories.
Whether they have spent weeks upcycling a vintage denim jacket or hand-stitching a custom gown, the runway is where they claim their space. For many, this is the first time they realize that their voice—expressed through color, texture, and silhouette—has the power to command a room.
What to Expect at the 2026 Spring Show
This year’s show is shaping up to be our most inspiring yet. Hosted at the Joseph V. Canzani Center (60 Cleveland Ave), the afternoon is packed with more than just fashion:
-
The Sustainable Market: Starting at 3:00 PM, our VIP guests can browse our curated market, meet the board of The Fashion Community, and discover unique pre-loved and handmade treasures.
-
Backstage Grit: Behind the scenes, our designers are learning the fast-paced reality of show production—from hair and makeup to final fittings.
-
The Main Event: At 4:15 PM, the lights dim, and the show begins. Every student, from our jewelry designers to our garment makers, takes center stage to showcase their "waste-to-wonder" creations.
A Celebration of Confidence
We believe that when a child creates something with their own hands and then has the courage to show it to their community, their self-esteem reaches new heights. The 2026 Spring Fashion Show isn't just a display of talent; it’s a celebration of the grit, flexibility, and self-love these young trailblazers have practiced all season.
Do you know of someone who could benefit from our programs? Summer camps are almost sold out, but we have a few spots left (at the time we published this post). More details here.
